18th July 2023.– The Nao Victoria is arriving next hours to Jersey and will be docked at Albert Pier , where she will be open to the public from 19th to 23th of July so that visitors can get to know her extraordinary story.
She is an historical replica of the first ship that successfully circumnavigated the world commanded by Ferdinand Magellan and Juan Sebastián Elcano in the 16th century. Almost 500 years ago (1519- 1522) one of the greatest maritime adventures of all time was accomplished. One of the biggest acts of maritime history carried out by Spanish sailors who managed to sail all around the world and discovered the planet’s real dimensions.
By visiting Jersey this emblematic vessel puts the town on the vast map of ports all around the world that she has already visited since her construction. Between 2004 and 2006 she made her own particular journey around the world, stopping in 17 countries and visiting the United States. She is already making a tour of several European ports of UK, France, Netherlands, Germany and Spain.
The Nao will be open to public at Albert Pier. During the visit to this 27-meters-long and 7-meters-wide wooden vessel –a masterpiece of Spanish marine carpentry, visitors will get to know the ship’s amazing history, forms, details, operation and the life of Spanish seamen. In the hold they also get to experience the real life of the crew members
